Spiritual Markers:
Thousands of campers have come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior through the years. Hundreds have surrendered their lives to ministry and missions over the past seventy years.
How Can You Help?
- Commit to pray for the camp
- Commit to participate in camp remodels and annual maintenance
- Make a pledge to give annually to the budget
- Make a pledge to build a new one - hundred camper dorm
- Make a pledge to build a new swimming pool
Needs:
- The camp needs another dormitory that holds 100 campers
- 400 beds available in multiple dormitories
- Kitchen and Dining Area. Current facility built 1960. Infrastructure that will support both buildings
- Swimming pool repaired or replaced. The Current Pool was installed in 1960
Financial Markers:
The camp is owned by the churches of the Western Oklahoma Baptist Association and Great Plains Baptist Association.
The annual budget for the camp is $130,000.00
Historical Markers:
In 1945, Falls Creek Assembly did not have an encampment because of a polio epidemic and the difficult post war days. There was a sense of need for something in southwest Oklahoma that could supply opportunity at that time. Some of the pastors in the area met, and after deliberations, decided to have a camp that summer. The site of the first camp was the state camp grounds and buildings in Quartz Mountain State Park. The immediate purpose was to provide a camp for that summer. The far-reaching purpose, however, was to give southwestern Oklahoma a Baptist encampment that could serve the district.
The first two years (1945-1946) recorded over 500 in attendance each year. From 1945 to 1951, they rented property for camp from Quartz Mountain State Park. Then in 1952 camp was incorporated and began a long-term lease on current property, which was purchased in 1984. Currently approximately 2,000 campers and other groups are on the property annually.
